Full Time Studies

Full time studies at Profectus Academy of Toronto provide students with the schedule, teachers and environment to succeed in all their courses. This is especially due to our Quadmester structure – where in a regular public school, students juggle four courses at a time for only two semesters in the school year, the Profectus school year has four semesters with only two courses per semester, allowing students to focus on what is being taught and actually learn.

One of the main benefits of this system which our students have shared is better mental health because they no longer feel stretched out among four subjects. The ability to focus on two and learn the information inside out allows them to enjoy their education as well. There are no longer multiple assignments and tests to prepare for, but rather only two. This enables students to truly learn and succeed at what they want. Additionally, it opens up their evenings for extracurriculars, or additional courses which will allow them to get ahead.

When spending the full day at Profectus Academy of Toronto, students will have the opportunity to work in small classes which allow for stronger connections with the teachers, more space and time to ask questions, as well as receive instruction that is personalized to their needs. Since students will be spending additional time with their teachers in the Quadmester system, it provides them with the time to establish stronger connections with their teachers and feel welcome and safe in their learning environment.

Additionally, the small class sizes ensure that there is time and space for these stronger connections with teachers to be established. In contrast to the public school classroom which at the very least has about 25 students in a class, a room with a maximum of 8 to 10 students and a teacher creates a learning environment where everyone’s voice is heard, there is room for individual and collaborative learning, as well as the ability to connect individually with the teacher. Each educator at Profectus Academy of Toronto are trained, prepared and encouraged regularly to connect with each and every one of their students, and develop a welcoming and inclusive class environment. This is one of the main reasons why our students and families attend Profectus Academy of Toronto.

High school can be a challenging time for many students – from establishing peer relationships to maneuvering courses, pathways and taking part in extracurricular activities. The teachers and admin at Profectus Academy are well aware of these challenges and actively seek to support each learner on an individual basis. Where in a public school, you may feel like a student number, or just a Grade 10 student, at Profectus Academy, everyone knows you on a first name basis and will be there to support you every step of the way. The University or College Pathway Program at Profectus Academy of Toronto opens a door of opportunity for students as they can sit with a guidance counsellor and have every step of their learning and extracurriculars planned out. Additionally, our counsellors will regularly follow up with our students and ensure that they are on track, or if not, how we can support them. This student success centered approach is very much possible with the small class sizes and caring adults in every class.

These are some of the few reasons why many students choose Profectus Academy of Toronto for their full time studies. They come to school every day knowing that there will be a building of caring adults to support them every step of the way – whether it be for the classes they are enrolled in, choosing courses, extracurriculars or any other questions they have as they maneuver their education and growth.
